Building an extension

While designing an extension it is important to carefully detail and consider the connections with the original building.  Post and beam frames for an extension can be free-standing or use elements of the existing building for support.

In this example, a dwarf wall is built on which the frame then rests.  This is a very traditional way of supporting an oak frame and has many advantages.
