The Sheldon Centre
New Chapel and Study Centre Accommodation (The Sheldon Centre). We designed and built the primary timber frames for two phases of re-development work at The Sheldon Centre.

The first phase required a large simple Douglas Fir trusses to provide the principal support for the new roof over the complete refurbishment of the accommodation wing, formally a cob linhay.

The second phase was the conversion of the 'Great Barn' which is a very old cob barn, the condition of which was fairly poor. We designed and built the oak frame that stands on the ground floor and supports the first floor chapel and it's large thatched roof. The roof space is quiet and spacious and simply finished for prayer and quiet contemplation. The oak frame is relieving the cob walls of any major loads, thus helping to maintain it's ancient material for posterity.
